The 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), the world’s premier contest for secondary‑school chemists, saw India become the first nation whose every participant walked away with a gold medal. This unprecedented feat placed India alongside China, Vietnam and Russia’s Group B individual participants at the top of the overall medal tally.

With 365 participants representing 93 countries, the 2026 edition was the largest IChO ever organised, underscoring the growing global enthusiasm for chemistry. The intensive programme ran from 10 to 19 July in the historic capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent.
