Shabdalok, meaning “Museum of Words,” was inaugurated on 10 August 2024 by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the National Library of Kolkata. Unlike conventional static exhibits, the museum employs cutting‑edge digital media to narrate the evolution of Indian languages—from oral traditions to scripts, literature and beyond.
Housed within the 1948‑era Belvedere House, the museum extends the library’s role as a cultural hub.
