Detailed Insights

On 30 March 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed the foundation stone for a sweeping development agenda worth more than ₹33,700 crore in Bilaspur. The blueprint cuts across housing, health, education, transportation, energy and sanitation, with each sector receiving a distinct financial allocation. A total of three lakh low‑income households—particularly those situated in tribal belts—will be allocated modern dwellings equipped with toilets, electricity and LPG connections. Women’s ownership of these homes is expressly encouraged to foster gender equity.

Infrastructure upgrades feature the widening and resurfacing of national highways NH‑930 and NH‑43, alongside 108 km of new railway lines and the complete electrification of the state’s rail network. Parallel investments in water pipelines and city‑gas distribution aim to raise living standards while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Education reforms include the inauguration of more than 12,000 new “PM Shri” schools, with curricula expanded to incorporate Hindi‑medium medical and engineering streams. Health initiatives target Naxal‑affected zones through the establishment of additional primary health centres and the rollout of Ayushman Bharat insurance coverage.

Tribal development remains a cornerstone of the agenda: ₹80,000 crore is earmarked for road construction (2,500 km) and other amenities under the “PM Janman Yojana.” Energy projects such as the NTPC Sipat Super‑Thermal Power Plant, gas‑pipeline networks and the “PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli” solar scheme are intended to secure reliable, clean power for the region.
