Detailed Insights

In commemoration of its 70th year, SBI announced a nationwide program that will bring clean, decentralized power to millions of households across the country.

Central to the plan is the deployment of rooftop solar photovoltaic arrays—each unit capable of generating up to 5 kW of clean electricity—on private residences, particularly in rural and semi‑urban districts. The goal is to deliver the estimated 4 million houses with self‑sufficient solar energy by the end of fiscal year 2027.

Beyond electricity, the bank is investing heavily in its social initiatives, allocating ₹610.8 crore for healthcare, education and environmental projects in 94 aspirational districts, while also planting 9 lakh trees along the Cauvery basin. A new Centre of Excellence in Project Finance is being set up to nurture next‑generation renewable ventures, including electric mobility, data‑centers and green‑hydrogen production.
